Embracing the Unknown: What If It DOES Work Out?

nicole9843

Wrapping up my 11th retreat this weekend at Honest Yoga, I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude. The theme of this retreat was all about Embracing the Unknown, and every single time, I am blown away by the strong, incredible women who show up—not just for themselves, but for each other. There’s something powerful about stepping into a space where you feel supported, seen, and understood.

One of the biggest things we talked about was how easy it is to hold onto what feels safe—even when it’s no longer serving us.

For years, I held onto a marriage that was unhealthy and depleting. I stayed because it was familiar, and I was consumed with worry about how it would affect my two boys, who were just four and five at the time.

Because even a familiar struggle can feel safer than stepping into the unknown.

I remember sitting in my therapist’s office, spiraling about the future. “But what about the boys?” I kept asking. I was terrified of what would happen if I chose myself for once. And then she hit me with the words that changed everything:

"Nicole, you have to love yourself more than you love those boys."

I felt that in my soul. As a mother, it’s hard to imagine loving anything more than your kids—but I had spent years pouring everything I had into other people, relationships, and situations that drained me. In that moment, something shifted. For the first time, I chose me.

I chose love over fear.

Did I have it all figured out? Absolutely not. I was a hot mess express, but I started small—prioritizing myself in little ways and shifting my energy bit by bit. It all started with one simple decision: to see myself through the lens of love—to finally recognize that I was deserving of kindness, compassion, and goodness

And instead of obsessing over “What if I can’t do this? What if I fail? What if they were right?” I asked myself a new question:

What if it all works out better than I could ever imagine?

And here’s the truth: if I wouldn’t have made that decision, I know I wouldn’t be here right now, in this space, doing this work and writing to you. That one decision changed my life in such a powerful way.

You are one decision away from changing your life, too.

Fear of the Unknown Is Real—But So Is Your Power

We’ve all had moments where we were terrified of what’s next. Sometimes, that fear is obvious—like leaving a relationship, switching careers, or making a huge life change.

Other times, it’s sneaky. I’ve had people open up to me about their weight loss journeys, saying they’re actually scared of what it will mean to be seen. That fear? That’s the ego trying to keep us safe.

But what if the unknown isn’t here to destroy you? What if it’s actually the doorway to your breakthrough?

If I hadn’t made that mindset shift in my therapist’s office that day nine years ago, I wouldn’t be here now. Sitting in front of you. Stronger, more vulnerable, and more me than ever before.

So let me ask you something…

  • When was the last time you faced the unknown?

  • What story were you telling yourself about it?

  • Was it empowering, or was it based in fear?

Take a second to really think about that. Because the way we frame our experiences determines how we move through them.

Scarcity vs. Abundance: The Mindset Shift That Changes Everything

The moment I stopped obsessing over everything that could go wrong and instead leaned into "What if it all works out?", I moved from fear to possibility.

That’s the energetic difference between scarcity and abundance.

  • Scarcity mindset = fear, lack, and control. What if it all falls apart?

  • Abundance mindset = trust, possibility, and flow. What if it all comes together perfectly?

Most of us live in scarcity without even realizing it. It’s how we’re programmed. Our subconscious ego is literally wired to keep us safe—which often means keeping us small.

But what if I told you that your ego can be rewired to operate from a place of abundance?

Think of it this way: If you were about to bungee jump but didn’t have a cord, you’d probably assume that if you jump, you’ll fall and die, right? But what if instead, you believed you would grow wings and fly?

That’s the power of shifting your mindset.

So, what if you stopped letting fear control the story?

  • What if you decided to believe that things could actually work out?

  • What if you leaned into abundance instead of scarcity?

  • What if you trusted yourself enough to take the leap?

Because the unknown isn’t the enemy. It’s where the magic happens.

And if you're ready to take that first step in shifting your energy, join me for a live breathwork session this Thursday at noon on Instagram.

Breathwork has been one of the most powerful tools in my own journey—helping me move from fear to trust, from stress to calm, from scarcity to abundance. This session is all about releasing resistance and stepping into possibility.

No experience needed. Just show up as you are. Breathe. And let’s do this together.

I’ll see you on Instagram live at noon on Thursday. Don’t miss it.

xoxo, Nicole
