Welp, it’s Monday again, and honestly, I didn’t wake up feeling super refreshed. After a jam-packed weekend—filled with a Honest Yoga teacher meet-up, pulling docks out for the season, hockey drop-offs and pick-ups for both boys, and hosting friend sleepovers (plus filling up on gold fish and diet coke)—you could say I was running on fumes this morning.
My alarm went off, and I hit snooze, giving myself 15 extra minutes to gather the energy to actually roll out of bed. It wasn’t exactly a "jump out of bed and seize the day" kind of morning. I’m curious—what do you do when you wake up feeling drained? Do you have a routine that helps you, or do you let yourself take it easy?
For me, I’ve learned that whenever I wake up tired, I have to lean into my routine. And I’ll admit—sometimes that’s a battle. I know some people love the structure and comfort of a routine, while others resist it or are indifferent. Personally, I’ve learned that even on the tough days, sticking to my morning rituals makes all the difference.
Why Routine Matters (Even When You Don’t Want It To)
Despite feeling sluggish, I knew I had to get moving. Mondays are a non-negotiable for me when it comes to movement and stillness. I hopped on the Peloton for a quick ride, then hit the mat for some yoga. It’s not about being perfect or checking off a box—it’s about setting the tone for my week. Moving my body and quieting my mind helps me shift gears from weekend chaos to feeling grounded and ready for the week ahead.
While I was pedaling, the Peloton instructor said something that really resonated:"Most people don’t wake up and leap out of bed, ready to take on the day with a big smile (and if you do—good for you!). For the rest of us, we wake up tired and have to work on transmitting low-energy vibes into high-energy ones."
Energy Shifts Take Work
That’s the thing—there’s no magic solution. For most of us, it takes intentional work to shift from low-energy to high-energy. Some mornings are easier than others, but the point is that we choose to show up for ourselves, even when it feels like a challenge.
Whether it’s hopping on the mat, going for a walk, or taking a few minutes to breathe and reset, that effort is what helps us make the shift. Today, moving my body and getting centered was exactly what I needed to pull myself out of the Monday slump.
How Do You Start Your Week?
I’m curious—how do you reset on those days when you’re just not feeling it? Do you lean into routine, or do you give yourself a bit more flexibility? If you don’t have a routine, maybe this week is the perfect time to try it out. It doesn’t have to be huge or complicated—just something that helps you reconnect with yourself and get grounded.
I’m all about creating little rituals that bring more ease into the week. If you need support or feel like you could use some accountability, I’m here! We all need those reminders to take care of ourselves, especially on the tough mornings.
Drop a comment below and let me know—how are you resetting this Monday? I’d love to hear from you.
xoxo, Nicole
