You’ve Had the Power All Along

nicole9843

Remember The Wizard of Oz? Dorothy spends the whole movie following the Yellow Brick Road, facing flying monkeys, witches, and who knows what else, trying to get to the great and powerful Oz so she can go home. And then—spoiler alert—the Good Witch casually drops that she’s had the power to go home all along. All she had to do was click her heels and say, I want to go home.

Dorothy’s reaction? Total frustration. Why didn’t you tell me this earlier?!The Good Witch’s response? You wouldn’t have believed me.

Oof. That one hits, doesn’t it? Because it’s so true for us, too.

Why We All Need the Yellow Brick Road

How many times have you looked outside of yourself for answers? Chased after a relationship, a promotion, a certain number on the scale, thinking, This is what I need to feel whole? And then, when you finally get there, you realize… nothing out there is ever going to fix what’s happening in here.

The truth is, everything you’ve been looking for is already inside of you. The peace, the answers, the confidence—it’s all been there. You just needed the journey to wake up to it.

Dorothy had to follow the Yellow Brick Road. She needed to get lost, make mistakes, meet her people, face her fears, and figure out who she really was. Because sometimes, it’s not about someone telling you the answer. It’s about living through the mess until you’re ready to believe it.

Coming Home to Yourself

That’s what mindfulness, breathwork, and movement are all about for me. They’re not magic fixes. They’re just tools to help you pause, breathe, and remember who you already are. To quiet all the noise and reconnect with that part of you that’s always been there.

You don’t need to chase anything outside of yourself to feel whole. It’s not about “fixing” or becoming some new version of you. It’s about coming home to yourself—the self that’s been there all along.

A Simple Practice to Ground Yourself

So here’s what I want you to do:

Take a moment right now. Close your eyes, put your hand on your heart, and take three slow, deep breaths. On each inhale, think: I am here. On each exhale, think: I am home.

That’s it. No wizard required. Just you, remembering the power you’ve had all along.

xoxo, Nicole
